To Xuan Phuc was formerly a junior researcher at the Bonn International Graduate School in Development Research at ZEF and Junior Research Group on Post-socialist Land Relations at Humboldt University in Berlin. He received his doctoral degree at Humboldt University in Berlin in 2007. He has done extensive research on the politics of forest management in Vietnam, with particular attention to the dynamics of access and control over forestland and forest resources. Much of his current research focuses on the impacts of forest devolution policy and market forces on local livelihoods in the uplands. Together with his colleagues, he is now working on a book on Post-socialist landscapes. Currently, Dr. To is a post- doctoral fellow at the Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto, Canada.
